On May 3, 2013 Governor Christie signed into law the Overdose Prevention Act. Essentially, the Overdose Prevention Act encompasses both the “Good Samaritan Emergency Response Act” and the “Opioid Antidote and Overdose Prevention Act” which encourages individuals to call 9-1-1 and seek emergency assistance in cases of overdose and expands access to the lifesaving medication, naloxone.
