Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the 2016 Pine Hill Senior Citizens Narcotic Pill Safety and Disposal Luncheon a success. Over 50 area seniors attended the event and met with Pine Hill police officers, fire fighters, members of the Municipal Alliance, Council members Jaxel and Knott and others. In addition we were joined by our business partners, Audubon Savings Bank, Heart of Gold Jewelers, Penick Chiropractic, and Walgreens.
Chief Winters discussed the current opiate epidemic in the area and stressed the importance of utilizing the department’s Project Medicine Drop permanent take back location at Police Headquarters and the mobile unit. All attendees were also given lightweight, drawstring bags, emblazoned with the Pine Hill Police Department seal to store unused, unwanted and expired medications as a reminder to dispose of them properly with the department.
Attendees learned about current scam trends targeting seniors and about the Swift911 emergency community notification system. Many of those in attendance signed up for the Swift911 system while at the event with the help of Sgt. Farrell.
Walgreens provided free blood pressure testing and shingles immunization shots. Dr. Penick provided health tips and explained the benefits of chiropractic care for seniors and our Branch Manager Nora Palumbi of Audubon Savings Bank helped us serve our seniors. Fire Commissioner Jim Wakeley provided key information regarding the operation and budget of the Pine Hill Fire District.
The Municipal Alliance was proud to introduce Mayor Betty Ann Cowling-Carson of Magnolia who is the Camden County Municipal Alliance Coordinator. Mayor Cowling-Carson is a great friend of the Pine Hill Municipal Alliance and partner of the Pine Hill Police Department. She serves on the Camden County Addiction Awareness Task Force along with Chief Winters. Thank you for showing your support at our event!
Thank you to all of the Municipal Alliance volunteers, our community partners and our beloved Pine Hill senior citizens for making the event a success. We will see you in 2017!
