Let’s be honest, golf is hard! Learning the game of golf can be very challenging. We here at
the Pine Hill Police Department believe in facing challenges head-on as the rewards for doing
so are always worth it. We designed the Pine Hill Police Golf Academy to take that challenge
of learning the game of golf and make it approachable for anyone. Whether you have a few
years of experience under your belt or are grabbing hold of a golf club for the first time, this
program is for you. The skills we teach here are more than just how to improve your golf skills
either. The habits learned in our program, like dedication, structure, and routine not only lead to
success in sport, but success in life.
Each week, our Officers team up with professional golfers to provide an amazing learning
environment where Pine Hill youth and Pine Hill Officers can tackle challenges, build relationships,
and learn the game of golf together.
That is why the Pine Hill Police Golf Academy is returning for its second year! This program
is open to Pine Hill youth ages 13-18. All interested applicants must fill out the Application

DEA National Drug Take Back Day
Pine Hill Police Administration Building
Saturday, April 28, 2018 10:00am – 2:00pm
The Pine Hill Police Department will be participating in the DEA – Drug Enforcement Administration Take Back Event on Saturday, April 28, 2018 from 10:00am until 2:00pm. The event will be held at the Police Administration Building located at 48 West Sixth Avenue. The Department will be providing a safe and legal method for the residents of Pine Hill and surrounding jurisdictions to dispose of unused, unwanted or expired medication. Information will also be available for local drug addiction support services and Operation SAL. Since May 2014, the Pine Hill Police Department has responded to over 125 reported drug overdoses and has deployed lifesaving naloxone in over 50 of those incidents.
Last October, Americans turned in 456 tons (over 912,300 pounds) of prescription drugs at 5,321 sites operated by the DEA and more than 4,200 of its state and local law enforcement partners. Overall, since 2010, DEA and its partners have taken in over 9 million pounds—more than 4,500 tons—of pills.
This initiative addresses a vital public safety and public health issue. Medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse, and abuse. Rates of prescription drug abuse in the U.S. are alarmingly high, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs. Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including from the home medicine cabinet. In addition, Americans are now advised that their usual methods for disposing of unused medicines—flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the trash—both pose potential safety and health hazards.
For more information about the disposal of prescription drugs or about the April 28 Take Back Day event contact Det. Davies at edavies@pinehillpd.com or 856-783-1549 x 443 or email communityrelations@pinehillpd.com

April 1 – April 21, 2017
The Pine Hill Police Department will be cracking down on distracted drivers during April as part of New Jersey’s UDrive. UText. UPay. enforcement campaign.
Beginning April 1 and running through April 21, the high visibility law enforcement initiative will target motorists who engage in dangerous distracted driving behaviors such as talking on hand-held cell phones and sending text messages while driving.
“Distracted driving is a serious issue on our roadways,” said Gary Poedubicky, Acting Director of the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety. “The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that in 2014 alone, 3,179 people were killed in distracted driving crashes and an estimated 431,000 people were injured in motor vehicle crashes involving a distracted driver.”
Despite the fact that using a hand held cell phone or texting while driving is illegal in New Jersey, the practice appears to be widespread. In a recent survey conducted by the FDU PublicMind Poll for the Division of Highway Traffic Safety, 67% of respondents said they “very often” see people driving and talking on a hand held cell phone. 42% of respondents said they “very often” see driver’s texting.
The campaign is being carried out during the month of April, which the National Safety Council has designated as Distracted Driving Awareness Month. The New Jersey campaign is modeled after similar successful high visibility enforcement programs such as Click It or Ticket and Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.

With the perfect weather we had this weekend, the only thing that could make it any better was a visit from Girl Scout Troop 277!
The girls joined Sgt. Field, Ptl. Heron and K9 Duke, and several other Officers for a tour of Headquarters and the vehicles, a viewing of Duke’s K9 academy training and of course a little play time with him.
The girls prepared thank you cards for each of our officers and presented Sgt. Field and the staff a basket with Girl Scout cookies and treats for Duke.
Thank you for an awesome afternoon! We look forward to the next visit.

On October 1, 2016 the Pine Valley Gun Club hosted the 2nd Annual Blue Shoot in support of law enforcement across the region. The inaugural event in 2015 supported the Pine Hill Police K9 Unit. The event this year supported the Voorhees Twp. K9 Unit and as with 2015, the event was a great success. Officers from across the county had the opportunity to meet with members of the Pine Valley Gun Club to share stories, experiences and to get to know each other.
Lt. Witts and Sgt. Barrett of the PHPD Honor Guard had the privilege of opening the event with the raising of the Colors. The ceremony had special meaning this year to both the club and longtime member Bonnie Hoffman. Lt. Witts and Sgt. Barrett retired the flag that had flown over the range and presented it to PVGC President, Paul DiMeglio. They had the honor of receiving a flag very special to Mrs. Hoffman; the burial flag of her father, William Cassada who honorably served our Country in the United States Navy. Lt. Witts and Sgt. Barrett raised the burial flag of William Cassada to fly proudly over the members of the Pine Valley Gun Club.
Thank you to all the members of the PVGC for another special event. We look forward to joining you again next year for the 3rd Annual Blue Shoot.
On October 21, 2016 over 80 1st Grade students from the John H. Glenn Elementary School visited the Pine Hill Municipal Building and Pine Hill Police Department. The day started with Pine Hill Officers greeting the students as they boarded the buses with “High-Fives for Respect” and “Fist-Bumps against Bullying”. After arriving at the Municipal Building, Mayor Green provided the group with historical information about the Borough and a question /answer session regarding the government of Pine Hill. Questions ranged from “Do you live here?” to “What does a Mayor do?” Les Gallagher Jr. guided the students through a tour of the Council Chambers and other Municipal Offices, while providing interesting facts for each office. Sgt. Barret and Ptl. Brennan provided a tour of the Administrative Offices of the Pine Hill Police Administration Building, along with the Patrol Room, Processing Area, Training Room and the favorite of the group, the Holding Cell. The trip culminated with a visit by the Pine Hill Fire Department. |
Another great afternoon with the Dr. Albert Bean Elementary School Enrichment Program. Sgt. Farrell escorted the students to Jimmies Scoops & More Ice Cream Parlor in Pine Hill where they were joined by Chief Winters, Lt. Stettler, Det. Pierson and Ptl. Booker.
Amazing how engaged they were in conversation over soft-serve with jimmies. Great kids with their mentors from the Dr. Albert Bean School. We look forward to next week!
Ptl. Marino visited one of Pine Hill’s Pokemon Gyms to make sure everyone was battling nicely! We encourage you to enjoy the new world, but do it safely and be aware of your surroundings!
• Tell your kids about stranger-danger. The way that the game is designed can bring people together in the real world as they search for Pokemon in common areas called gyms and pokestops. Obviously, you never know who you could run into while playing.
• Setting the limits on where your kids can go can limit the amount of strangers that you or your kids could encounter.
• Watch the road! We have seen a number of people – both kids and adults – so engrossed while staring at their phones and following a map, that they’ve walked right into the street and into objects. Pay attention!
• And as always, if you run into an individual that is seemingly up to no good – don’t hesitate, call dial 911!
Ptl. Marino and SRO DiGiacomo joined the Dr. Albert Bean School Summer Enrichment Program for a great time today! As part of our continued partnership with the Pine Hill School District, we will be attending the prgram at both the Dr. Albert Bean and John H. Glenn Elementary Schools weekly throuhout the summer.
Once again, thank you to the Pine Hill School District for allowing us to partner with them on a great program.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the 2016 Pine Hill Senior Citizens Narcotic Pill Safety and Disposal Luncheon a success. Over 50 area seniors attended the event and met with Pine Hill police officers, fire fighters, members of the Municipal Alliance, Council members Jaxel and Knott and others. In addition we were joined by our business partners, Audubon Savings Bank, Heart of Gold Jewelers, Penick Chiropractic, and Walgreens.
Chief Winters discussed the current opiate epidemic in the area and stressed the importance of utilizing the department’s Project Medicine Drop permanent take back location at Police Headquarters and the mobile unit. All attendees were also given lightweight, drawstring bags, emblazoned with the Pine Hill Police Department seal to store unused, unwanted and expired medications as a reminder to dispose of them properly with the department.
Attendees learned about current scam trends targeting seniors and about the Swift911 emergency community notification system. Many of those in attendance signed up for the Swift911 system while at the event with the help of Sgt. Farrell.
Walgreens provided free blood pressure testing and shingles immunization shots. Dr. Penick provided health tips and explained the benefits of chiropractic care for seniors and our Branch Manager Nora Palumbi of Audubon Savings Bank helped us serve our seniors. Fire Commissioner Jim Wakeley provided key information regarding the operation and budget of the Pine Hill Fire District.

The Pine Hill Police Department has created a registry for individuals with Autism or disabilities in efforts to give officers quick access in an emergency to critical information about an at-risk person who is registered. The registry can provide officers with emergency contact information, detailed physical descriptions, known routines, favorite attractions or special needs of an individual with Autism Disorder or other disabilities such as: Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Down Syndrome or any other endangered individuals.
This information can greatly assist police officers when time is essential in communicating and dealing with an emergency situation involving a person with Autism Disorder as well as other disabilities.
The registration form is three pages and asks for valuable information that the police officer may need when helping at-risk individuals. We ask that all questions be filled out completely and a current photograph be provided. If you are unable to supply a photograph, the Pine Hill Police Department can take one for you. The information you provide is confidential and will only be used by our police officers.
If any of the information on the registration changes you are encouraged to inform the police department as soon as possible. We will look to update the registration yearly to ensure we have the most current information and photographs.
The form may be accessed on the Pine Hill Police Department website via the At-risk Individual Registration link . The form is fillable and can be submitted directly from the form via email or it may be submitted at the Police Administration or given to any Pine Hill Police Officer. Additional information may be obtained by emailing communityrelations@pinehillpd.com or calling 856-783-1549.
